Data is the currency of today's digital economy. With the rise in the value of data, so too has come strict regulation around when, where and how personal data can be used.

This event aims to improve our understanding of data sovereignty and the use of personal data to harness better AI results. The sessions will focus on lessons learned in realizing Europe’s new Digital Single Market and its implications for businesses, in particular for innovation and future service delivery.

The presentations will explain basic new principles in areas such as:
- Free flow of non-personal data
- Data protection
- Algorithmic decision making

Dr Erich Prem, founder and director of Eutema, a technology and RTD strategy consultancy company based in Austria, is a leading authority on these subjects. Erich is brought to NZ by the EPIC Project (https://epicproject.eu/), an ICT partnership between the EU and NZ which explores potential areas for improved cooperation between New Zealand and the European Union.
